Winter holidays off the slopes

As well as all fans of alpine skiing, winter walkers, connoisseurs and culture lovers can also experience the magic of a winter holiday in Lech am Arlberg in their own way and recharge their batteries amidst the magnificent, snow-covered mountains. The winter landscape, draped in a white, glistening blanket, also invites you to relax far away from the hustle and bustle! Look forward to plenty of exciting winter activities both on and off the slopes.

Ice skating in Lech

It’s not just the snow-covered paths, meadows and slopes that have something to offer in Lech. The natural ice rink in the Zürs district, as well as the temporary pop-up ice rink for children at Rüfikopfplatz in December and January, provide plenty of fun ice-skating in the open air amidst the fresh mountain air. Winter fun on two blades adds variety to your winter holiday in Lech am Arlberg. Let the children’s enthusiasm for movement rub off on you: try out spins, skating backwards or braking so that the ice sprays. Experience the feeling of lightness and freedom as you glide across the glittering ice surface under the open sky amidst the snow-covered mountain landscape. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, you’ll experience pure skating pleasure at the ice rinks on the Arlberg.

Curling in Lech and Zürs in the Arlberg region

Another fun and active alternative to winter sports on the slopes is curling, whether for groups or the whole family. No prior experience is required!
The Hotel Auriga offers an open-air artificial curling rink on its terrace, measuring 25 metres in length and 3.60 metres in width. Up to 10 people can play curling at the same time every day until 9.00 pm on the floodlit rink. Drinks can be ordered at any time from the indoor bar. We recommend booking by calling +43 5583 2511.

As well as ice skating, curling is also available at the natural ice rink in Zürs. The ice rink is open from Sunday to Friday, from 3 pm to 7 pm. Booking is recommended for curling and can be made by calling +43 660 6092532.

Artwalk – Sculpture Trail

The Artwalk, created by hotel owner Ingo Strolz in collaboration with artist Gabriele Brunner, offers a truly unique winter walk. It winds its way past 11 monumental sculptures situated around the Hotel Auriga. These striking works of art, crafted from sturdy metal, invite visitors to marvel and reflect, symbolising the relationship between heaviness and lightness.

Sky Space by James Turrell

Take your family to visit Sky Space Lech, an artistic installation along the winter hiking trail above Oberlech. The walk takes 20 minutes. It consists of an underground chamber with an oval opening in the ceiling, through which you can watch the spectacle in the sky from a bench. This is an unforgettable experience, particularly at sunrise or sunset. In bad weather, the opening is covered by a huge, gleaming steel dome and a light show begins.
