The gypsum caves are a true natural spectacle – they resemble the hollow half of an eggshell. It is a wonderful hike – to the gypsum caves via Oberlech and around the Karhorn to the Bodenalpe Bürstegg. Bürstegg was once the highest Walser settlement in Vorarlberg. It is a particularly rewarding hiking destination and easily accessible!
You can combine the hike with a visit to the Schottenhof and see the Highland cattle – the shaggy animals. These animals are very important for the high-alpine region, as they graze where farming machinery cannot reach and their weight compacts the ground, reducing the risk of avalanches in winter.
Tip: A visit to the Schottenhof is well worth it in both summer and winter!
At 1,773 metres, you will find the European watershed. Between the Danube, the Black Sea, the Rhine and the North Sea. The Flexen Pass connects the rear Klostertal valley with the Lechtal valley – as the highest point.
It is an admirable work of nature that reminds us that, in the end, everything is always united and “one”, even if we see it as separate and, in any case, wish to name it as such. Visit the European watershed at the Flexen Pass.
Tip: A hike to the Flexen Pass would also be well worth it during your winter " title="Winterurlaub in Lech">holiday at the 4* Hotel Tannbergerhof!
